Yamaha motorcycle tours in Montenegro and the Balkans

Yamaha Tours Montenegro and the Balkans

When I envisioned the type of motorcycle tours I wanted to organize in Montenegro, I explored various options. I noticed that many tour companies worldwide favor BMW GS motorcycles and Honda Africa Twin for their versatility and capability across diverse terrains. While these motorcycles are outstanding, I wanted to offer something unique for our Motorcycle Tours in Montenegro.

After traveling nearly 10,000 kilometers across Europe and repeatedly exploring Montenegro, I realized the Balkans are often overlooked by global travelers. This region offers diverse locations without requiring long distances between them. For example, you can traverse Montenegro on a motorcycle in just three hours, whether traveling from south to north or east to west. From here, you’re within close reach of Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia, Albania, North Macedonia, and Kosovo.

These countries are rich in culture, each with its unique blend of similarities and differences. On my first tour around the Balkans, I realized that you can experience a lot within ten days. While this might not be enough for a deep dive into Balkan culture, it offers a taste of what this region has to offer. For me, there’s immense pleasure in starting a motorcycle and heading into the mountains or Bosnia for a day or two. Even short trips make you feel free, allowing you to focus on the present moment.

I wanted to create tours that are special and unconventional. I’ve always preferred sport-touring bikes for their lightness, agility, and fun factor, especially in a region full of twisty mountain roads, hairpins, and scenic serpentines. I chose the Yamaha Tracer 9 for its combination of long-distance capability and agility on slow-paced roads. While BMW GS and Honda Africa Twin are excellent choices, the Tracer 9 proved ideal for the unique roads of Montenegro and nearby countries.

BMW GS Montenegro

After extensive travel on the Tracer around the Balkans, I confirmed that it was the right choice. My goal is to ensure that our clients have the best possible experience, not just with the motorcycles but also with the routes, cuisine, and people they meet. Yamaha Tracer 9 offers reliability and ease of operation, crucial for our guests who join our Balkan Moto Tours or rent a motorcycle in Montenegro. Larger bikes like BMW R1250GS or Honda Africa Twin can be challenging to handle, especially on Montenegro’s narrow, twisty roads.

We chose the Yamaha Tracer 9 lineup, modified for heavy-duty and long-distance tasks. The Tracer 9’s manual suspension setup makes for a comfortable ride, and all bikes come with comfort seats, heated grips, quick-shifters, and panniers. To ensure reliability, I personally clocked around 10,000 miles across the Balkans, including Montenegro, Bosnia, Croatia, North Macedonia, Kosovo, and Albania. I was impressed by how well the Tracer handled new road developments and classic routes like SH20 in Albania or the road between Sarajevo and Mostar.

We are preparing new motorcycle tours around the Balkans and Montenegro for the 2025 season. If you want to join us on an unforgettable adventure, fill in the application on our website and become part of our next Motorcycle Tour in the Balkans.
